MAMC student commits suicide

NEW DELHI: A first year MBBS student of Maulana Azad Medical College here was found hanging from the ceiling of her hostel room on Thursday. The police suspect that she was suffering from depression.

Neha, a native of Himachal Pradesh, was found hanging in the room by a student in the afternoon. The room is located in a building block that had recently been vacated for renovation work. Enquiries revealed that Neha had gone missing about two days ago.

From her diary, the police found that Neha was suffering from depression. Enquiries revealed that she had attempted suicide once earlier. She had lost her uncle recently and was also not doing well in her studies. According to college sources, she had scored poorly in one of the subjects.

The body has been handed over to her family after post-mortem. The police have initiated inquest proceedings into the death.
