Free training camp for special children

Staff Reporter

PUDUCHERRY: In an effort to provide speech therapy and physiotherapy for special children in Puducherry, Satya Special School has organised a month-long free training camp from May 1 to 31.

There are 13 homes for differently abled children in Puducherry, but only few had speech therapy and physiotherapy specialists, School secretary Nallam Krishnababu said.

“Speech is affected in special children and it is essential that they undergo speech therapy. We have set up a speech therapy centre. Children from other schools can avail themselves of the facility during this camp,” he said.

The camp would also encourage parents to help their special children to hone their skills. “With speech therapy, physiotherapy and other training, children can definitely improve. For instance, two children from the Satya Special School have improved after training and are now studying in regular schools,” Mr. Krishnababu said.

The camp is on at No. 66, Muthiya Mudali Street, Muthialpet, from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
