‘When the ground shakes beneath’ is by Mallikarjun Patil HUBLI: The Punjabi, Hindi and Kannada versions of the English novel, “When the ground shakes beneath”, written by Mallikarjun Patil, were released at a function held here on Wednesday. Novelist Sudarshan Desai released the books. Speaking on the Kannada version of the book, he said the gravity of an earthquake and its aftermath had been “beautifully” brought out in the novel. Kannan, who spoke on the English version of the novel, said the novel deals with a love story narrated in the backdrop of an earthquake. Presiding over the function, Buddanna Hingamire called upon everyone to inculcate the habit of reading books. Making introductory remarks, writer and English professor, Dr. Mallikarjun Patil, explained the situation in which the novel took birth. Ashwini and Shivakumar enthralled the audience with “Vachana Sangeeta”. Yaravinatelimath and Basavara Naikar were present. Ramachandra Kulkarni proposed a vote of thanks.
