Films laced with action, adventure and suspense to be screened on Sunday nights A host of exciting movies for children will also be up
Blockbuster of the month: ‘Happy Feet’ to be screened on May 29 at 9 p.m. on HBO. New Delhi: Cinema lovers can look forward to some of the biggest, star-studded blockbusters of various genres on HBO this May and June. Described as the longest summer extravaganza, the exclusive collection will showcase 60 Hollywood blockbusters. Every Sunday night the channel will screen films laced with action, adventure and suspense. “Dukes of Hazzard” will set the ball rolling this Sunday followed by “You, Me and Dupree” starring Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson and Matt Dillon on May 11. The Scarlett Johansson-Djimon Honsou starrer “The Island” will be beamed on May 18. “After the Sunset” starring Pierce Brosnan, famous for playing James Bond on the silver screen, and Salma Hayek will be screened on May 25. Academy Award nominated animation blockbuster “Happy Feet” featuring the voices of Robin Williams, Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman will keep everyone on their toes on May 29. In the film, Emperor penguin Mumble has a big problem as he does not possess the ability to sing like other penguins. Blamed for the poor fishing season and cast out by his community, Mumble who can tap-dance meets new friends who accept him with open arms. Other star attractions include a suspense thriller, “The Prestige”, starring Hugh Jackman and Michael Caine this Saturday. It will be followed by “Perfect Stranger” that has superstars like Halle Berry and Bruce Willis on May 24. This film revolves round a muckraking reporter for a New York newspaper. Action adventure movies will feature “Shooter” starring Mark Wahlberg, Michael Pena and Danny Glover on May 17 and “Blood Diamond” starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Michael Sheen on May 31. The high-drama “Dreamgirls” starring Jamie Foxx, Beyonce Knowles and Eddie Murphy on May 10 is a story of greed, hate and romance. The original superhero is back on HBO in “Superman Returns” every Sunday at 1p.m. Talking about the life of the most popular superhero in this trilogy beginning with “Superman” on May 11, followed by “Superman II” on May 18 and “Superman Returns” on May 25. HBO will also showcase “Martial Arts Specialist”, a collection of incredible action thrillers, including “Meltdown” on May 5 and “Rush Hour” on May 12. With summer vacations round the corner, HBO also offers a host of exciting movies to keep children occupied every Sunday before the 9 p.m. movie.
