KOCHI: Vadhyayar Mahasabha, a group of minority communities such as Ezhavathy, Kavuthiyya, Komaram, Arundhatheeya and Purohithan, will chalk out programmes to demand reservation in education and employment. The decision was declared by the leaders of the Mahasabha at a convention organised here. K.V. Thomas, MLA, who inaugurated the convention, said the members of the communities under the Mahasabha had contributed to the medical, education and cultural fields. He promised to take up their cause in the Assembly. K. Babu, MLA, said the communities will benefit from the united move. He felicitated Raghavan Master, a distinguished mathematician. BJP State General Secretary A.N. Radhakrishnan said some of the minority communities were deriving the benefits of reservation though a considerable number of them were rich, but some other minority communities were denied reservation though most of their members were poor. Former Minister M. A. Kuttappan inaugurated welfare programmes for the community members. Hindu Aikya Vedi leader Biju also addressed the gathering.
