Satyagraha against hartal held

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Hartal Virudha Munnani held a satyagraha before the Secretariat to protest against Friday’s BJP-sponsored hartal demanding steps to control prices. The organisation claimed that Kerala sustained a loss of Rs.4,500 crore as a result of hartal and that over 30 hartals, including local ones, had been organised in the State so far. It had thereby become a social evil. It was also anti-people and violative of human rights. The satyagraha was inaugurated by Francis Perumana, one of the secretaries of the organisation. — Special Correspondent
