Bidar
BIDAR: From the Congress, Narsinghrao Suryavanshi, is the third MP to contest the Assembly election in the State. Being a Bidar MP, Mr. Suryavanshi is contesting from Aurad (reserved) constituency in the district and it is his first Assembly election. The party has allowed MP Ambareesh to contest from Srirangapatna (Mandya) and Raichur MP Venkatesh Nayak from Deodurga (Raichur) in the State. Mr. Suryavanshi is a four-time MP from Bidar. He was elected in 1980, 1984, 1989 and 2004. Aurad has become a reserved constituency and Hulsoor, a reserved constituency, has been removed from the election map. Bidar parliamentary constituency has become a general seat now. For Mr. Suryavanshi, the party high command’s decision has come as a boon. It has helped him to keep his political career going, according to sources. Another advantage for him is the former Minister Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli is the official candidate of the Congress for Bidar. Mr. Nagamarapalli is a former MLA for Aurad and seems to have a considerable clout in the segment. This is likely to help Mr. Suryavanshi in the election.
