137 file papers in Gulbarga, Bijapur and Bagalkot

GULBARGA: As many as 137 candidates filed their nomination papers in Gulbarga, Bijapur and Bagalkot districts on Friday.

Fifty-six candidates filed their papers in Bijapur, 55 in Gulbarga and 26 in Bagalkot. Prominent among those who filed their papers in Bijapur were the former Union Minister Basanagouda Patil Yatnal of the BJP from Devarahippargi, the former Ministers Vimalabai Deshmukh of the Janata Dal (S) from Mudhebehal and Appu Pattanshetty from Bijapur city.

In Gulbarga district, prominent among those who filed their papers included State Secretariat member of CPI(M) Maruti Manpade and the former Minister C. Gurunath from Gulbarga Rural (reserved), the former Minister Qamar-ul-Islam from Gulbarga North, the former MLAs Shivashekarappa Gowda Sirwal of the Janata Dal (S) from Shahapur, Subash Guttedar from Aland, Chandrasekhar Patil Ravoor from Gulbarga South, zilla panchayat member Srinivas Gowda of the Janata Dal (S), Valmiki Naik from Chitapur (reserved), the former zilla panchayat member Tukaram Gowda Patil of the Janata Dal (S) from Afzalpur, and Chairman of the Gulbarga District Cooperative Credit Bank Kedarlingaiah Hiremath as an independent from Jewargi.

The former Ministers R.B. Thimmapur of the Congress and Govind Karjol of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Mudhol, actor Umasri and the former MLA Siddu Savadi from Terdal, former MP and Siddu Nyamagowda of the Congress and Srikant Kulkarni of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Jamkhandi, Basavaprabhu Sarnad Gowda of the Janata Dal (Secular) from Bilagi, the former MLA Doddanagowda Patil of the BJP and Vijayanand Kashappanavar of the Congress from Hungund, the former MLAs B.B. Chimmankatti of the Congress, M.K. Pattanshetty of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Kodihalli Chandrasekhar of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Ashok Kattimani of the Bahujan Samaj Party from Badami were among those who filed papers in Bagalkot district.
