“These projects will ensure smooth flow of traffic on Delhi roads”

The projects to cost Rs.909 crore

Power projects worth Rs.305 crore

NEW DELHI: A grade separator at the intersection of G.T. Road and Road No.56 near Apsara border and another at T-junction near Anand Vihar Inter-State Bus Terminus in the Capital’s trans-Yamuna area are among six new projects worth Rs.909 crore that have been approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee of the Delhi Government.

Finance Minister A. K. Walia, who presided over the Committee meeting, said the Department of Finance had given its nod for the infrastructure development projects to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on the roads.

The grade separator at the Apsara border would cost around Rs.226.47 crore whereas the one at Anand Vihar ISBT would cost around Rs.123.44 crore. They are both scheduled to be constructed within two years of commencement of work and would provide free flow of traffic to and from the Yamuna Sports Complex, which is one of the venues for the Commonwealth Games in 2010.

Besides, Rs.305 crore has been sanctioned for infrastructure development by Delhi Transco.

The amount would be used for commissioning various power-related infrastructural projects at Okhla, Gopalpur, Maharani Bagh, AIIMS and Lodhi Road.
