Bypolls: stick to code of conduct, says Collector

Staff Reporter

Orientation camps on the usage of EVMs will be held

Voters of 16 mandals going for polls to be covered

SANGAREDDY: Medak Collector Piyush Kumar on Friday called upon the representatives of various political parties to strictly adhere to the model code of conduct for the bypolls as there would be keen scrutiny by the observers.

He announced that the Zilla Parishad CEO would also act as an observer in addition to those sent by the Election Commission.

He pointed out that less number of constituencies during the byelections would make it easy for the observers to initiate action on the erring candidates or political parties.

Objections

The Collector also directed the political parties in the district to bring to the notice of the Election Commission any objections regarding the location of polling booths already announced by the administration.

The Commission could arrange a separate polling booth if the number of voters exceed the stipulated 1600 mark.

He said that very soon orientation camps on the use of electronic voting machines for the rural voters would be taken in all the 16 mandals going for the polls. Shaik Saber of Congress, M. Raghunandan Rao of Telangana Rashtra Samiti, Ch. Narendra of Telugu Desam, Vishnuvardhan Reddy of Bharatiya Janata party, B.Mallesh of CPI(M), P.Vazir of CPI, S.Srinivas Reddy of NCP participated in the meeting.

Permission for rallies

Warangal Staff Reporter adds : Superintendent of Police, V C Sajjannar has asked all the political parties and leaders to abstain from taking out rallies and organisation of public meetings without prior permission from the respective local police officer. He also asked all the weapon license holders to deposit their weapons at the respective local police stations before May 9. The SP in a statement said Sec 30 of AP Police Act was clamped across the district which prohibits mass gathering of people and public meetings without due permission. Parties should apply to local sub-divisional officer for permission. Those taking out rallies without written permission would be dealt with sternly.
