CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Tourism in association with the Chandigarh Golf Club and the Chandigarh Golf Association is going to promote night golf in the City Beautiful, an official spokesman said here on Friday. The inaugural night golf tournament will be held on May 9 at the Chandigarh Golf Club. The spokesman said that this was decided at meetings between Chandigarh Golf Club president D. S. Bains and Chandigarh Golf Association president C. S. R. Reddy. He disclosed that since Chandigarh was already becoming a favoured destination for golf tourism, night golf was the ideal option available for tourists to enjoy a game after sightseeing during the day. Mr. Bains said the Chandigarh Golf Club would welcome the maximum number of tourists from all parts of the world to Chandigarh for playing golf and the normal course fee would be charged from tourists. A long-term tie-up with hotels in Chandigarh and with Chandigarh Tourism has been also planned. Chandigarh Tourism is already promoting the city as a sports tourism destination and significant interest has been generated among the tourism community after the organisation of a number of golf tourism events in the past two years.
