BHOPAL: A court here has issued an order asking the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta to probe charges of corruption against the Indore Collector. This was revealed by the State Congress general secretary and MLA, Premchand Guddu, at a press conference here on Friday. He told media persons that the Special Court of R. K. Bhave issued the order for conducting a probe against the Indore Collector, Vivek Agrawal, on April 30 in response to a special petition filed by him. The Collector’s spouse and Indore’s Deputy Registrar have also been named respondents. The court admitted the petition under Section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code and asked the Special Police Establishment of the Lokayukta to conduct a probe and take necessary action. The court said in its order that the petitioner had made allegations against the Collector and the Deputy Registrar. As both of them are public servants, the court is not authorised to take cognizance of the matter without necessary sanction for prosecution under Section 19 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. However, the court has ruled that it has the powers to ask the authorities concerned to probe the matter under Section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
