BHUBANESWAR: Continuing its questioning in the Biranchi Das murder case, city police on Friday called Bidusmita, a little known music video actress, and her brother Arun Mantri to ‘understand’ the mystery of motives in the case.

Bidusmita, who was one of the closest friends of Leslie Tripathy, the controversial actress, had figured in audiotapes talking to gangster Raja Acharya, the prime suspect in the case.

The audiotapes were sent to different media houses after the murder.

Bidusmita’s brother was also kidnapped by the gangster who wanted the actress to help stitch up a relationship between him and Leslie.

The actress was too alleged to be a member of the coterie that surrounded deceased Biranchi Das and senior bureaucrat Priyabrata Patnaik.

Sources in police said the actress was asked how serious the relation between the gangster and Leslie was and how did the deceased come to the picture. Bidusmita’s brother, Arun, was questioned about the kidnapping and place where he was hid under cover.

Additional Commissioner of Police Y. B. Khurania, however, refused to disclose the details of questioning. “Investigation is on.

All the witnesses including member of media who will come under purview of the probe would be surely questioned,” he said.

For a while now, reports about involvement of few media persons had been doing round.

Police suspected that they had known a lot about the incident.

Mr. Khurania said the gangster would sooner or later be apprehended. “All possible angles pointed out by witnesses questioned by police are being investigated. We have got some important information during questionings which would help in the probe,” the additional commissioner of police said.
