Maoists kill liquor trader

Bhubaneswar: Suspected maoists have killed a hooch trader by slitting his throat in Orissa’s Koraput district, police said today. This was the third incident in two months in which a liquor trader was killed by the maoists in Orissa.

Villagers today found the body of the trader, Nala Brundaban (45), lying in a pool of blood with his throat slit in his liquor shop at Karli village. He was suspected to have been killed last night. A hand written letter recovered near the body said that the maoists had killed the trader suspecting him to be a police informer. Brundaban had been earlier been asked not to carry on with his liquor trade as it was affecting the tribal population. - PTI
