Godown gutted

TIRUPUR: A major fire broke out in a cotton godown at Kulathupalayam Pirivu, 10 km east of Tirupur, on the early hours of Friday.

Fire and rescue service personnel struggled to douse the fire for nearly 15 hours with the help of five fire engines from Tirupur, Perundurai and Kangeyam. The officers suspect electrical short circuit to be the reason behind the accident. They estimated an initial loss of more than Rs. 1 crore.
