YSR asks leaders to propagate development plank Response from people overwhelming, say candidates
HYDERABAD: Close coordination between the candidates and the influential party leaders in each Assembly and parliamentary constituency and launching of door-to-door campaign were the simple but firm messages sent across to the Congress nominees by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and APCC president D. Srinivas on Friday. While Dr. Reddy, who is in New Delhi, had a telephonic conversation with senior party leaders of Warangal district including Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, the APCC president spoke to all the candidates of 16 Assembly and four Lok Sabha constituencies. Dr. Reddy directed the party leaders to coordinate their activities in a better manner to motivate the party cadres to work enthusiastically for the victory of the nominees. He advised the leaders to propagate the development plank. Mr. Srinivas enquired with the candidates as to how the campaign was going on. He told them to refer any problem of non-cooperation from the local leaders to the State party leadership. HeartburnHe said that there was bound to be some heartburn among all unsuccessful aspirants. “You (candidates) should take them into confidence and seek their full cooperation to win the elections,” he said. A number of candidates informed Mr. Srinivas that the response from people was overwhelming. They wanted the presence of the Chief Minister and the PCC chief during the electioneering. Support welcomedLater speaking to reporters, he said the party would welcome support from all parties except the TDP and the BJP. Asked if the TRS rebels were also supporting the Congress, he said we would be thankful to any party that backed the Congress nominees. Mr. Srinivas said he was also planning to participate in campaign and address separate meetings. “It will be better if I and the Chief Minister go in different directions and address more meetings,” he added.
