BANGALORE: Acting sternly against rebels, the BJP on Friday expelled five leaders, including former MLA Shakuntala Shetty and minority wing leader Abbas Ali Bohra, from the primary membership of the party for six years. The party also expelled Banari Gopal Krishna Bhat of Puttur and Dakshina Kannada district unit secretary Vishwanath Rai following their association with Ms. Shakuntala Shetty. Yuva Morcha leader Shivaraj Tangadagi from Kanakagiri is the other leader who has been expelled. Ms. Shetty, a former BJP MLA for Puttur, has embarrassed the party by contesting as an independent after the party denied her the ticket.
