BHEL union elections: 3 Congress leaders in fray
Staff Reporter
Sangareddy: Three Congress leaders are in the fray out of the six candidates fighting the union elections at the Ramachandrapuram-based Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited unit which is going for polls on Saturday.
While sitting president G. Yellaiah of INTUC, an affiliate of Congress, is trying to retain his post, Siddipet Member of Parliament and Congress leader Sarve Satyanarayana is contesting on behalf of the All Employees Trade Union Congress. Mohan Goud, another Congress leader and former municipal councillor of Serilingampalli, is also contesting. The other three contestants are Teegala Krishna Reddy of TNTUC (Telugu Desam), Ramakrishna of BMS and Krishnam Raju of BUETUC. In all 3,100 voters would elect the recognised union.
Hectic activity
As the political parties generally consider this once in two year union elections as a show of power in Medak district and also as a test of strength for the forthcoming general elections, the campaign has been hectic. Banners and flags could be seen every where in the township.
