KOCHI: If there is one image that has been repeated to capture the mood of hartal, it is that of passengers stranded at railway stations and bus stands. But the City Police made sure that media did not get that image on Friday. It all began with a passenger who had arrived from Bhopal at Ernakulam South Railway Station calling the City Police Commissioner on finding the deserted roads. Soon, two police buses were seen carrying passengers across the city, all through the hartal hours. “The idea was to touch all major points in the city, like railway stations and bus stands, between Vytilla and Marine Drive. Also, two jeeps were brought in to take the ill and aged to hospitals — more like ambulances,” said Manoj Abraham, Police Commissioner.
