NEW DELHI: Another gruesome incident of crime rocked the Capital on Friday evening when a mother-daughter duo were found brutally murdered at their residence in Kalkaji. The police suspect robbery to be the motive. The police were informed of the murders by the victims’ neighbours around 8 p.m. The bodies of 58-year-old Asha, wife of Hari Lal, and her 25-year-old daughter Alka were found in a pool of blood in their lower income group DDA flat in J Block of Kalkaji. Soon after news of the murders spread, senior police officers rushed to the spot. A crime team was despatched to lift fingerprints and collect evidence from the scene of crime. Preliminary investigations revealed that the entry was friendly, suggesting that the assailants were known to the victims. Both mother and daughter were repeatedly hit on the head with some sharp-edged weapon. The police found an almirah in the house ransacked, suggesting that the assailants knew where exactly the money had been kept. Later at night, Hari Lal, who works for a private firm in Okhla, told the police that over Rs.6 lakh in cash kept in the almirah was missing. Suspecting involvement of someone known to the family, the police have started preparing a list of their acquaintances and domestic helps.
