Inflation belies Govt. claims: CPI

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India on Friday expressed serious concern at the increase of inflation to 7.57 per cent, an all-time high.

“Despite the tall claims made by Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and the government about the fiscal and monetary measures taken, this is what was actually happening. It is evident that the steps taken by the government are totally inadequate and meaningless,” the party’s Central Secretariat said in a statement.

Taking note of a good harvest, The CPI wondered why the prices were still not coming down.
