Off to a start: General Manager of TELCON K.C. Naveen Kumar inaugurating the contest in Hubli on Saturday. HUBLI: The two-day State-level technical paper presentation contest titled “Mechtrix-08,” organised by the Mechanical Engineering Department of B.V.B. College of Engineering and Technology began here on Saturday. Inaugurating the event, K.C. Naveen Kumar, General Manager, TELCON, Dharwad, advised students to use innovative and explorative methodologies while studying. “Innovation is the key to success,” he added. Presiding over the inaugural function, Professor B.L. Desai called upon engineering students to pursue higher studies, which he said was the need of the day. The event would provide students an opportunity to exhibit their skills in various streams of mechanical engineering, he added. As many as 130 students from across the State are participating in the event, which has been divided into three categories namely thermal, design and production engineering. Sixty-eight technical papers have been accepted for presentation and there are three prizes to be won.
