A little corner for the village

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Amongst all the swish brands at HomeStop, there is a little corner which has been kept open for village products for a fortnight. The exhibition-cum-sale of rural handicrafts, organised by HomeStop in association with the Grameena Karakushala Udyama, was inaugurated by R. Rameshappa, Chief Executive Officer, Karnataka Khadi and Village Industries Board, on Saturday.

The focus is on vetiver, lavancha in Kannada, the aromatic root with medicinal properties. Products made from it include caps, pouches, pen stands, wall hangings, wall decorations, slippers, window curtains, incense sticks, root powder, cushions, foot mats as well as vetiver oil.

Other products are bamboo accessories, Channapatna toys and bangles, terracotta artefacts and jewellery, and handmade cards and paper.

The exhibition is on at the HomeStop premises at Raheja Point, Ashoknagar, Magrath Road, till May 18 between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.
