PUDUCHERRY: The 43rd annual Kamban festival will be conducted from May 9 to 11 at Kamban Kalaiarangam. Around 70 speakers from Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu will take part in it. Joint Secretary of Kamban Kazhagam K. Kalyanasundaram said that Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court M. Karpagavinayagam, Lieutenant-Governor Bhopinder Singh and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy would participate in the inaugural function. A number of literary programmes on Kamba Ramayanam would be organised as part of the festival. This would include talks on various songs of the epic and a question-answer session on the first day. Prize distributions for competitions held in November, including recitation, for the physically challenged children would also be held. Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning V. Narayanasamy would give away the prizes to the winner of poetry competition. On May 10, a debating forum and a poets’ forum would be held. A dance-drama would also be conducted as part of the festival. Member of Parliament M. Ramadass would distribute the prizes to the first rank holders in the SSLC examinations, Mr. Kalyanasundaram said.
