Big B denies playing role of Mujibur Rehman

Mumbai: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday denied he has given nod to play the role of Mujibur Rehman, the founding father of Bangladesh, in an English movie. “Its the first time that I hear all this and obviously negate it, but they (media in London) were persistent. The media told me that the person producing it (the film) has confirmed your participation, Mr Bachchan! Well Mr Bachchan has not heard of it yet,” he remarked here.

A report quoting a New York-based Bangladesh news agency had said Mr. Bachchan has agreed to play the role of Mujib in “The Poet of politics’ named after the title given to the Bangladeshi leader by the “Time’ magazine in the early 1970s on its cover story. The agency said Big B’s actor-son Abhishek would essay the role of a young Mujib while his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai and noted actress Shabana Azmi were also assigned key roles in the film.
