CHANDIGARH: Haryana Finance Minister Birender Singh on Saturday ordered suspension of an upper division clerk of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, registration of FIRs against one Sita Ram for selling a residential plot fraudulently and against the former president of a group housing society for irregularities committed by him in Gurgaon. Presiding over the district level monthly grievances redress committee meeting in Gurgaon, Mr. Birender Singh ordered the suspension of Ramniwas of the Nigam for allegedly entering an exaggerated meter reading in the electricity bill of a resident of Sector 37 in Gurgaon. The complainant submitted before the Minister that the reading shown in his bill for July 24 to August 21, 2006, was wrong. When it was brought to the notice of the concerned bill clerk, he said it would be rectified in the next bill and the amount charged from him adjusted accordingly. But nothing was done and the latest bill amounted to Rs.1,46,110 on the basis of the cumulative meter reading till now. Disposing of another complaint relating to fraudulent sale of a residential plot, the Finance Minister ordered registration of an FIR against the seller Sita Ram and his arrest in the case. The accused was found to have allegedly sold the same plot to two different buyers as well as got their registration done by concealing the facts. The matter was probed by the Zonal Administrator of the Marketing Board who had recommended action against Sita Ram. In yet another case pertaining to Ariyant Group Housing Society in Sector 56 of Gurgaon, the Minister ordered lodging of an FIR against the former president of the society, Naresh Ahuja, for alleged irregularities committed by him during his tenure.
