CII hails move to promote Tier-II cities

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has welcomed the State Government’s move to promote information technology in Tier-II cities by setting up IT parks through the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu.

In a release on Saturday, CII Tamil Nadu State Council chairman Manikam Ramaswami said: “The allotment of land for major IT companies for development of IT parks in Tier-II cities reinstates the State’s commitment to a balanced regional development with focus on inclusive growth, one of the key recommendations of the CII.”

These Tier-II cities, with their smaller but equally talented labour pool and with a cost advantage of 15-20 per cent, have come to the fore as new growth centres.
