Demand for Freedom Memorial-1857

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party has unanimously adopted a resolution demanding that the Centre and the Delhi Government raise a grand Freedom Memorial-1857 on the lines of India Gate in memory of the martyrs of the country’s freedom struggle.

At a party meeting chaired by Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan, speakers called for such a memorial on the ground that “even 60 years after achieving freedom, the new generation knows little about the First War of Independence”.
