52 candidates to fight it out in Uttara Kannada

SIRSI: A total of 52 candidates are in the fray from the six constituencies in Uttara Kannada district which will go to the polls on May 16.

Following is the constituency-wise list of candidates: Karwar: Anand Asnotikar (Congress), P.N. Kuwalekar (Janata Dal-Secular), Prasad Rama Karwarkar (Bharatiya Janata Party), R.G. Naik (Samajwadi Party), Sandhya Anwekar (Bahujan Samaj Party), Ramdas Kudtalakr (Rashtriya Hindustan Sena), Leo Francis D’luis (Suvarna Yuga), and Ganapati Ulvekar and Gangadhar Bhatt (independents).

Haliyal: Apparao Krishna Poojari (BJP), Raghunath Vishvanath Deshpande (Congress), Panduranga Patil (BSP), Sunil V. Hegde (JD-S), Ajit M. Naik (SP) and Premanad V. Gavas (independent).

Sirsi: Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri (BJP), Ravindranath Naik (Congress), Ramnath Hegde (BSP), Nagaraj Narvekar (JD-S), Bheemanna Naik (SP), Ramdas Kanade (Lok Janshakti Party), and Ananda Gouda and Shanmukh Gouda (independents).

Kumta: Mohan Shetty (Congress), Shashibhushan Hegde (BJP), Dinkar Shetty (JD-S), G.G. Hegde (SP), Nathkumar Gouda (BSP), Tippayya N. Naik (Rashtriya Hindustan Sena), and Sadananda Bhandari and Savitri S. Shet (independents).

Bhatakl: Shivanand N. Naik (BJP), J.D. Naik (Congress), Santosh Prabhu (BSP), Parameshwar T. Naik (JD-S), Yashodhar Naik (SP), Grish L. Shetty (Rashtriya Hindustan Sena), and K.R. Bhushan and N.M. Zhukriya (independents).

Yellapur: Veerbhadragouda S. Patil (BJP), Shivram Hebbar (Congress), Umesh Hegde Unchalli (BSP), Pramod Hegde (JD-S), Premanada S. Jaiwant (SP), Mangesh Kaisare (Rashtriya Hindustan Sena), Shafi Sheik (Lok Janshakti Party), and Sadananda Harijana, Phakeerswami Gutyanavar, Maruti Ghatkamble, Suresh Poojar, Sannaphakeerappa Harijan and Hanmantappa Guddannavar (independents).

As many as 16 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers from the six Assembly constituencies in the district.
