Tension as OMC trespasses into BIOP area

ANANTAPUR: Tension mounted again at the iron ore mines in H. Siddapuram village in D.Hirehal mandal in the district from Thursday night with the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) allegedly trespassing into the mining area belonging to the Bellary Iron Ores Private Ltd (BIOP). The alleged trespass took place even as the team of Survey of India is scheduled to carry out relaying the boundaries between the mines of H.Siddapuram and Obulapuram villages. According to the information reaching here the OMC started excavating precious iron ore in the adjacent mining area belonging to the BIOP with heavy mining machinery from late on Thursday night. The OMC workers and musclemen allegedly overlooked the objections of BIOP officials and workers and were carrying on illegal excavation of iron ore.

A team of Survey of India officers will carry out the work of relaying the boundary between the two iron ore-rich villages as part of settling boundary dispute between the BIOP and OMC on their mining leases located in the two villages from May 5 to 7.
