Six medical care equipment provided

KARUR: The State Government on its part is planning for health and social welfare schemes based on the requirements of the people, said Karur MP K.C. Palanisamy.

Participating in the Primary Health Centre Day celebrations conducted at Manmangalam near here on Friday, Mr. Palanisamy handed over six medical care equipment worth Rs.50,000 to the PHC officials. The funds for the purchase were allotted from the MPLAD scheme.

The Manmangalam PHC has treated over 62,861 patients in the region disbursing medicines worth more than Rs.2.03 lakh over the past year.

Also, more than 4,883 pregnant women have benefited under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Memorial Scheme. The Pulse Oxymeter instrument that was supplied at the MP Parliamentary Constituency health mela was put into use during the PHC Day celebrations.

Collector T.N. Venkatesh said that 16 PHCs were functioning full time in Karur district and PHC Day as also Hospital Day would help people and patients know the services being rendered by the medical professionals.

In the function 30 pregnant women were given Rs.6,000 each under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Memorial Pregnant Women Assistance Scheme while another 20 were given Rs.3,000 each under the Janani Surakshana Yojana, 11 pregnant women were given Rs.700 each.

Deputy Director of Health Services S. Sadasivam welcomed the gathering while the Manmangalam PHC Medical Officer A. Manivel proposed a vote of thanks.
