BANGALORE: The former Minister B.T. Lalitha Naik, president of the women’s wing of the Samajwadi Party State unit, has criticised the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa for his reported remarks about S. Bangarappa, president of the State unit of the party, with regard to the ban on arrack. Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Ms. Naik said, “Mr. Yeddyurappa said that Mr. Bangarappa was eyeing the votes of arrack traders and had therefore promised to revoke the ban. Mr. Bangarappa’s stand on the ban is that the Government should provide alternative employment to those who lost their livelihood because of the ban. He advocatsd total prohibition because he has concern for the people.”
