Case registered for code violation

HASSAN: The Chennarayapatna police have filed a case against Lalithamma, president of the Hassan District Congress Committee women’s wing, for violating the model code of conduct.

Superintendent of Police K.V. Sharatchandra said Ms. Lalithamma had hired a choultry in Chennarayapatna on the pretext of celebrating her birthday. She hosted a lunch for the invited guests and received presents from them. There were Congress banners and buntings in the choultry.

This was in violation of the model code of conduct, and Returning Officer Vyshali had lodged a complaint with the police, he said.
