Civil Supplies’ guidelines to FPS dealers

HYDERABAD: Tightening the rules further to avoid misuse of the rice meant for public distribution system, the Civil Supplies department has made it mandatory for fair price shop dealers to keep the key registers open for public scrutiny.

The key registers, containing details of not only the cardholders but also the members of the cardholders’ families, should be updated and certified by the tahsildars concerned before making the information public. This is one among the series of guidelines issued by the department to avoid irregularities in the distribution of Rs. 2 kilo rice for the current month commencing from May 5.

The dealers should henceforth display the authorisation certificates and the stock received from the mandal level stock (MLS) points in addition to keeping the details of the distribution in the public domain. “The department has empowered the joint collectors to replace in-charges of MLS points after they complete two years at one place,” Civil Supplies Commissioner Poonam Malakondaiah said.

Dealers cautioned

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, she cautioned the fair price shop dealers as well as traders against diversion of rice to open market.
