CHANDIGARH: One hundred and fifty Army jawans helped the Haryana Forests Department and Panchkula district administration on Saturday in extinguishing forest fires at Morni and Pinjore, according to Haryana Minister of State for Forests and Tourism Kiran Choudhry. She said that devastating fires had broken out in the forests of Pinjore and Morni. Timely action and promptness exhibited by the Panchkula district administration and the Forests Department in seeking Army help had averted a major mishap as the fire had reached the densely populated residential area of Pinjore. Panchkula District Magistrate R. K. Kataria added that thanks to the timely help by the Army the lives of 250 school children of Alpine School at Pinjore were saved. , Nolta Resort at Morni was saved from destruction as the fire had spread very quickly due to a strong breeze. Ms. Choudhry warned that strict action would be taken against any local residents found guilty for these fires.
