HYDERABAD: Tourists visiting different sites of historic importance would soon have ex-servicemen guiding them through. Plans were being drawn to train retired armed forces personnel and utilise their services as tourist guides in coming days, according to Director-General Resettlement S. G. Chatterji. Second careerInteracting with veterans of Indian Army here on Saturday, he said the booming IT, insurance and other service sectors, including the hospitality industry were providing much needed succour by way of second career to ex-servicemen. Revamp“We are planning to offer business management courses to the retired armed forces personnel,” he said, adding that several multi-national companies were giving top priority in utilising their services. He added that a decision was also taken to revamp Rajya and Zilla Sainik Boards to ensure better services. LoansAndhra Pradesh Sainik Welfare Director C. S. Vidyasagar said the State government has also agreed to grant loans with 25 paisa interest to ex-servicemen to ensure self-employment. “We are just waiting for government orders,” he said. Necessary steps were being taken for the welfare of 93,397 ex-servicemen in the State.
