Hyderabad
Wooing begins: CPI(M) candidate S. Veeraiah interacting with people during his padayatra at Binni Kota in Hyderabad on Saturday. — HYDERABAD: Musheerabad Assembly Constituency is gradually waking up to the beats of drums, raucous loudspeakers and, of course, the pampering, so common before elections. The streets and main roads are festooned with election paraphernalia as candidates prepare to outdo each other during the campaigning phase, for that precious vote. Such was the competition to garner votes on Saturday that within a kilometre radius covering three colonies, party workers of the BJP, Congress and CPI(M) were seen campaigning simultaneously. While Congress and BJP had party workers campaigning, the CPI (M) contestant S. Veeraiah personally interacted with womenfolk from several hutments. CPI(M) confidentWith the TDP extending support to his candidature, S. Veeraiah expressed confidence that this time TRS legislator N. Narasimha Reddy would not make it at the hustings. While interacting with the womenfolk and the aged, Mr. Veeraiah tried to drive home the point that his party always stood by them and gave support to their cause. “It’s either we or the Congress. There’s no question of the TRS candidate being elected here. Major issues like drinking water, roads and power cuts continue to haunt residents,” Mr. Veeraiah said. Mr. Veeraiah mingled with residents of Unnikota, a hutment at Kavadiguda, for over three hours. Womenfolk were quiet upbeat during his visit. . Mr. Veeraiah also visited colonies of nearby L.B. Nagar and Kodanda Reddy Nagar.
