“Do not yield to pressure”

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The Centre for Consumer Education has demanded that merchants along the M.G. Road give up their opposition to the proposed Metro-rail project in Kochi.

The centre’s managing trustee, Dijo Kappan, said that there was no opposition to the project when its alignment was fixed over two years ago. The Metro-rail will considerably benefit Kochiites who are facing acute traffic congestion because of the absence of flyovers and ring roads.

The Bangalore metro rail passes through that city’s busy M G Road, Mr Kappan said and asked the Government not to bow to pressure from merchants.
