Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Public Works Mons Joseph announced here on Saturday that his department would take up the restoration of the Sanghumukham- Airport road that was damaged by sea erosion during the last monsoon. The assurance was given to a delegation of Kerala Congress leaders which submitted a memorandum to the Minister. “The PWD has decided to commit funds for the restoration project. This follows the failure to launch an integrated project by the PWD and the departments of Revenue and Tourism to restore the damaged road and beautify the area,” he said. Meeting plannedThe Minister told the delegation that he would convene a meeting of officials after visiting the site within two days. The team included party general secretary Antony Raju, leaders Abdul Vahid and David Joseph and Shanghumughom ward councillor Mary Viji. The delegation also urged the Minister for steps to widen the Veli-Poonthura road and repair the damaged sections.
