Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran announced here on Saturday that poor landless families in the district would be given title deeds for ‘puramboke’ land. Presiding over a meeting held at the Collectorate, he said the distribution of title deeds would be completed by the month end. Applications for excess land can be submitted up to May 30. The meeting decided to evict all encroachments on government land and create a land bank for redistribution to eligible families. Tahsildars were directed to recover the lease arrears on government land. The Minister informed the meeting that the district-level tsunami rehabilitation projects would be stepped up. Senior officials from the Land Board, Disaster Management Division, Revenue Department and the district administration were present.
