Thiruvananthapuram: The Civil Supplies Director has sanctioned 84,477 MT of rice and 18,740 MT of wheat for distribution through the ration shops during the current month. Over 1,950 MT of pounded rice produced from the procured paddy will be distributed to the BPL section in the districts of Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Thrissur. AAY consumers of these districts will get 2,600 MT of pounded rice . APL consumers of these districts and Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts will get 6,100 MT of pounded rice. APL cardholders will get in addition to wheat, 10 kg of rice at ration price. BPL cardholders will get 25 kg of rice and wheat. AAY cardholders will get 35 kg of rice per card. In May, all cardholders, including the APL section, will get two litres of kerosene per card for electrified houses and five litres of kerosene per card for non-electrified houses. Those with permits for cooking purpose would get a maximum of six litres of kerosene. BPL cardholders will get sugar at the rate of 400 gm per member for Rs.13.50 per kg. The prices of items in kg for various categories are as follows - APL rice Rs.8.90, BPL and AAY rice Rs.3, APL wheat Rs.6.70 and BPL wheat Rs.3. The price of kerosene ranges between Rs.9.30 and Rs.9.70 per kilo litre.
