native Charm: A scene from the tribal festival held as part of the 12th anniversary of Thudi Kalakendra, which concluded at Eachome, near Kalpetta, on Sunday. Kalpetta: The 12th anniversary of Thudi Kalakendra, a research institute for indigenous people in the hilly district, and a tribal festival at Eachome concluded on Sunday. T.C. John, writer, inaugurated a ‘vattakkali’ competition and delivered a speech on ‘Paniya Vattakkali.’ The Thudi web site was inaugurated by Thomas Therakam, a social activist. C.M. Sarasamma, president, Wayanad district panchayat, inaugurated the Thudi annual meeting. K.C. Jabbar, president, Panamaram panchayat, presided. The photographs of P.K. Kalan, a Gaddhika artist and a tribal social reformer, and social activist Mayilamma were unveiled by A.C. Varkey, chairman of Farmers Relief Forum. A. Sivasankaran, tribal development officer; George Joseph, Principal, DIET,Wayanad; and P.C. Velayudhan, Headmaster, Sarvodhaya School, Eachome, were felicitated at the function. As a part of the tribal festival, an all-Kerala ‘vattakkali’ competition and other cultural activities were conducted.
