DINDIGUL: The State Government has sanctioned Rs.35 lakh to form new self-help groups and develop necessary infrastructure for them this year, according to Collector R. Vasuki. In a release here on Saturday, she said that funds had been allocated to impart special training to new members also. A total of 1.77 lakh women have been running 10,971 groups in the district. Resource fund had been given to 136 out of total 306 women self-help group federations in the district so far. Besides, revolving fund also had been disbursed to the graded 817 groups in the last financial year. A sum of Rs.1.15 crore was distributed as loan to 90 SHGs and Rs.1.15 crore to 2,333 groups till March 31, 2008, the Collector added.
