Rising prices hit monthly budget of families

The rising inflation has hit the monthly budget of thousands of low-income and middle-income families in Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts forcing them to cut down their expenses. With inflation showing no signs of slowing down, the low-income families have begun to feel the pinch, writes S. Prasad

The soaring prices have made Simons working as teachers in Varatanapalli to cut down their expenses to meet the rising expenditure. “We earlier used to save at least Rs. 5,000 per month for the education for our sons. But now the savings have become nil.” The couple has two sons Bruno Silvester (15) and Bento Silvester (13). “We had promised to buy a new computer for our sons but had to settle down for a second-hand one.” Post-inflation things have
become very tough, says Simon George.
