Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday alleged that the Mayawati-led BSP Government in the State was framing Opposition leaders in fake criminal cases to prevent them from contesting the next Lok Sabha elections. “We have asked party workers to launch peaceful agitations across the State against their implication in false and fabricated criminal cases and the growing high- handedness of the State government,” the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister told PTI. He decried the administration claiming that it had badly failed to address the problems of the downtrodden, rampant corruption, acute shortage of power and deteriorating law and order situation. “The government’s only contribution is misuse and misappropriation of the State funds to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore for the construction of Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram memorials in the State capital,” Mr. Singh alleged. He alleged that all developmental schemes and works initiated by his Government had been stalled by the Mayawati- led ministry and the State was facing “unprecedented” power crisis. “Bundelkhand region is confronted with drought-like situation and there were several reports of starvation deaths but the government has taken no concrete remedial measures. It is only engaged in blame game with the Centre for special economic package for the region,” Mr. Singh said. PTI
