Prime Minister Nehru announced amidst deafening cheers his acceptance of the Congress Parliamentary Party’s resolution urging him not to relinquish his office at the party meeting on May 3 in New Delhi. While both the leaders and rank and file felt relieved and happy at the turn of events, there was also a feeling of surprise at the almost abrupt termination of the episode.
