Blasphemy laws

While the merit of the case of lynching of Jagadeesh, a Hindu, by his co-workers in Pakistan needs to be decided only after a thorough study of what actually transpired, the episode amply brings out the helplessness of the rulers in that country to bring in changes to the blasphemy laws. Bowing to pressures from religious groups is not a matter of shame but a cause for serious concern.

One has no business poking his nose into other’s religious affairs but the reaction to such intrusion cannot be brutal, mindless killing. The dire need of the hour in Pakistan is education.
