CUDDALORE: Balaji scored a half century as Cuddalore District Cricket Academy defeated Thirupapuliyur CC by 78 runs and entered the pre-quarterfinals at the fourth State-level cricket tournament here on Sunday. The scores: Cuddalore DCA 180 for eight in 25 overs (Balaji 54) bt Thirupapuliyur CC 102 in 17.1 overs (E. Kootharasan four for 26); Villupuram CC 87 in 23.5 overs lost to Mandarakuppam CC 88 for two in 8.1 overs. Big win for RoyalRoyal FC (Batlagundu) thrashed PSNA FC 10-0 in the Dindigul DFA Nursery (under-13) football league at Dindigul on Sunday. All-India footballThe 43rd annual Moulana Abulkalam Azad memorial trophy all-India football tournament, organised by United Sports Club, will get under way with a match between Nilgiris DFA and Golden Thread FC, Cochin, at USC ground, Kayalpatnam on Tuesday. Twenty teams are participating in the tournament, which will be inaugurated by Deepak M. Damor, Superintendent of Police, Tuticorin.
