Navneeth triumphs

BANGALORE: A.R. Navneeth, ranked No.5 in the country in the junior ranks, swept to an easy title triumph in the junior boys singles event of the EBF State ranking table tennis championship, which concluded at the Malleswaram Association here on Sunday. Navneeth, with his strong forehand top-spin, cut down Akshay at 11-6, 11-5, 11-2,10-12, 11-6 .The junior girls final too proved to be a lop sided affair, as N. Poojitha crushed Nisarga 11-5, 11-4, 11-4, 11-5 in the final.

Earlier on Saturday, Vedant M. Urs and Maithreyee Bailoor bagged the cadet boys and sub-junior girls’ singles titles respectively. Vedant defeated Rahul Bharadwaj 9-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8, in the final, while Maithreyee rallied to defeat Priyamvada of Mysore 11-3, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 9-11, 11-5 in the final. M. Shreyas Telang bagged the non-medallist singles title.
