KORAPUT: More than 50 per cent of the NREGA funds would be utilised for excavation works this year, Balakrushna Sahu, District Collector of Koraput said today. He was drawing plans with the BDOs at Koraput today, after the Chief Minister had directed the district administration for digging one pond in each revenue village. While there were programmes to initiate work for 1,766 farm ponds, 280 irrigation projects, 112 water conservation projects and 35 flood control projects in the district, only 35 per cent of the NREGA funds were utilised for water conservation projects during the last financial year, official sources said.
